THE MARCHES
The Kennedymarch*EU will have five distances: eighty, forty and twenty kilometers. These are distances that are very popular in the Netherlands. In Germany, on the other hand, both a half marathon and even more so a marathon are considered standards that you have to have covered at least once in your life. It is therefore that we offer a short loop of 1.1 kilometers very close to the Witte Stein, which has to be walked once for a half marathon or twice for a marathon. All distances and times will be recorded electronically. Accordingly, all participants will receive a certificate with their personal distance and time.
The Kennedymarch over 50 miles or 80 kilometers begins with a mass start on 28.06.2025 at 18:00 at the Witte Stein. The first section is around eleven kilometers long and leads into the heart of Brüggen. From there through the Tantelbruch to the Vennberg sports field, via Genrohe, Lüttelbracht and Boerholz to the Alster Kirchweg sports field in Bracht. And finally through the night and the forest back to the Witte Stein. The second half of the route leads through Ronkenstein to the Dijkerhof sports park in Reuver. Along the Meuse, the route leads via Beesel to the outskirts of Swalmen, before the finish at the Witte Stein can be seen again.
The ½ Kennedy starts at 05:15 a.m. at dawn on 29.06.2025. Participants start the ¼ Kennedy at 10:00 a.m., also from the start/finish at the Witte Stein. The routes are still being worked out and will be described here as soon as possible. What is certain is that both distances will take place within the ‘cannon shot line‘.
On a small circular route at the Witte Stein, the ‘Quarter Kennedy’ and the ‘Half Kennedy’ can be supplemented to a half marathon or marathon.
We will not publish the exact routes or even route maps in advance. This is to prevent shortcuts and the obstruction of sports hikers by support teams. Sufficient parking spaces and waiting facilities are available for supporters at the official refreshment points. We ask for your understanding.
